12.08.2023 | On Tuesday, the opening of the Public Sector Innovation Lab by Deloitte in cooperation with Behörden Spiegel took place in Düsseldorf. The Lab serves as a platform for the exchange of ideas on the integration of future technologies in the public sector and is an important contact point for interested parties. During the event, it was demonstrated how ministries and public authorities can benefit from ecosystems such as KI Park e.V.. Special attention was given to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in various areas of public service, including legislation, impact assessment, process optimisation and citizen communication. Solutions from KI Park e.V. members such as Deloitte, dida Machine Learning and YUKKA Lab met with great interest from the public sector representatives present. A panel discussion with experts from various fields, including Dr Eva-Charlotte Proll, Dr Oliver Heidinger, Dr Christoph Schmidt, Felix Dinnessen and Dr David Dang, facilitated an in-depth dialogue. Questions from the audience, especially about the use of Large Language Models (LLMs) in the public sector, were at the centre of the discussion. One particularly interesting aspect of the discussion was the role of ethical considerations in the context of AI use in the public sector. While some felt that ethical issues were less central, others stressed the need for more intensive consideration of these issues, especially because of the overall social responsibility of public authorities. The event was made possible by the invitation of Tobias Bannach, and Julian Schenk and Dr Florian Schütz represented KI Park e.V. in the discussions with the guests.
